Shajib Mahmood Alam is a Barrister of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn who is known for his specialisation in Commercial Dispute Resolution, Managing Corporate Legal Affairs with ease and expertise, Employment related work, Legal Advisory & his Family Law practices amongst others. He is part of a leading Bangladesh law firm where he is acting as Managing Partner since June 2017. Records indicate that he is a practitioner who has achieved success in both litigation and resolution of disputes out of court which is becoming a growing practice in Bangladesh.

In corporate practice, Barrister Alam has been involved in the floatation of over 20 foreign or joint venture entities in Dhaka in the first two quarters of 2017 alone. He is a regular advisor to selected groups of companies, business houses and high net-worth clientele.

He is also an experienced advocate who appears before the courts and tribunals on behalf of his clients and is backed by his team made up of exceptionally talented colleagues and paralegals. On the other hand as a commercial law practitioner Mr. Alam has been involved in resolving disputes by advising and representing key players ranging from Aviation and Cargo companies to franchises and big partnerships. He also assists with drafting of key commercial contracts and policies for which he is highly regarded amongst his foreign clientele who rely on his expertise during the formative times of their businesses.

 Mr. Alam also feels passionately about families and children in distress which motivates him in his family law and pro-bono endeavours. He regularly assists clients in child custody cases, cross-border adoption matters & selected family disputes. He also advises trusts, executors and fund managers on variety of issues. Because of his expertise Barrister Alam’s advice is often sought in areas of employment such as discrimination and HR policies. He actively assists clients on registration, contracts and transactions related to land matters. He provides legal advice and guidance to a number of power plants and also advises clients from other industries on regulatory & licensing issues.


Mr. Alam also advises and works for Complainants and Defendants in white collar crimes like cheque fraud, L/C fraud, deception and breach of trust. He is a member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, International Bar Association, BAB and several other local and international professional bodies. Mr. Alam is a regular contributor to the World Bank Group’s publications and regional research projects including Women, Business & the Law and Doing Business. He has also published articles on the Social Science Research Network and local journals and enjoys writing on legal matters that are ready for reforms.
