Biography

Andrew Macklin is a partner in the Doha office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Corporate Department. Mr. Macklin advises on a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions, with particular experience in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity transactions.

Mr. Macklin has represented:

  • The Steering Committee in connection with the US$3 billion merger of Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. and Qatar Shipping Company Q.S.C.
  • Qatar Real Estate Investment Company in its proposed business combination with Barwa Real Estate Company*
  • Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. in connection with its US$1.3 billion acquisition of U.N Ro-Ro Isletmeleri A.S., a Turkish freight company*
  • NBK Capital in connection with its investment in Arabian Establishment for Educational Development LLC
  • HarbourVest Partners, Pantheon Ventures and LGT Capital Partners in connection with their investment in Clyde Blowers Capital Fund II LP and the proposed acquisition by Clyde Blowers Capital Fund II LP of various seed assets, including four separate business units from Textron Inc.*
  • Weather Investments II Sarl, a privately held telecommunications investment company controlled by the Sawiris family, in its €1.1 billion disposal of a minority interest in Weather Investments S.p.A to funds managed by private equity firms Apax Partners Worldwide LLP, Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC and TA Associates, Inc.*
  • Goldman Sachs International in various secondary acquisitions of private equity interests*
  • Goldman Sachs International in connection with its acquisition of a stake in Palm Hills Developments, a residential property developer in Egypt*
  • BAA Limited on the sale of its 75% minus one share stake in Budapest Airport to a consortium led by HOCHTIEF AirPort GmbH for £1.309 billion*
  • VINCI in the disposal of its global airport cargo and ground handling division to LBO France for €315 million*
  • Freyssinet SAS (a subsidiary of VINCI) in its acquisition of NUKEM Limited, a UK-based nuclear engineering and related services business, from Advent International*
